Rear Admiral


RSP, USP, ndu, psc, MSc (D&SS)

Rear Admiral NPS Attygalle RSP, USP, ndu, psc, MSc(D&SS) joined the Sri Lanka Navy in 1985 as an officer cadet of the 13th Intake and successfully completed his basic training at the Naval and Maritime Academy, Trincomalee. He is an ASW specialist trained at the ASW School Kochi in India. Admiral holds Master of Science degrees in Defence & Strategic Studies from China.

Rear Admiral Attyglle has commanded varies ships/craft and establishment of the Sri Lanka Navy and held a number of key appointments in the Naval Headquarters and other Naval Commands including Deputy Area Commander of the Eastern Naval Area. He has commanded Fast Gun Boats, Fast Attack Craft and the passenger ship Jetliner, Also he severed as a Commanding Officer including SLNS Vijaya and SLN Dockyard. He extended his service to the Navy whilst serving in various directorates such as Defence Attaché – India, Project Manager Jetliner Nautical Enterprise, Director Naval Personnel, Director Naval Operations, Director Marine Special Force, Director Naval Foreign Cooperation and Senior Coordinator Rapid Response Rescue and Relief Squadron. Also he had foreign exposure in UK for basic training, Staff Course and Sub Lieutenant Tech coursein India and International Senior Officers Amphibious Planning Course in USA.

In recognition of his distinguished service, Rear Admiral Attygalle has been awarded with Rana SuraPadakkama, Uttama Seva Padakkama and many other medals.

He is a past student of Mahanama College and Ananda College, Colombo.
