          Rear Admiral Jayantha De Silva has been appointed as the Director General Administration. Prior to being appointed as the Commander Northern Naval Area, he held the post of Director General Administration.

Rear Admiral Jayantha De silva joined the Navy on 11th January 1984 as an officer cadet to 12th intake and underwent his basic training at the Naval and Maritime Academy in Trincomalee. He is an Anti Submarine Warfare (ASW) specialist, trained at the INS Venduruthi in India. He followed his staff Course in Sri Lanka and National Defence Course in Bangaladesh. He also privileged to follow (JTS) Joint & Combine War Fighting Course in United States. He holds Master of Science in Management, Masters of Strategic and Development Studies and post graduate Diploma in Conflict and Peace Studies.  

Rear Admiral Jayantha De Silva Commanded Various Ships, Fast Gun Boats and Fast Attack Craft. He had proud privilege of Commanding frontline OPV SLNS Samudura during humanitarian operation. The important staff appointment held by him at Naval Head Quarters during his illustrious career include Staff Officer Weapon, Deputy/ Acting Director Naval Administration, Chief Instructor of DSCSC Makola, Director Naval Training and Director General Administration. This two star admiral held key appointments in shore bases in operational and administrative level. Such as Executive officer, Commanding officer and Staff officer appointments. Rear Admiral Jayantha De Silva has the proud distinction of commanding prestigious naval training establishment SLNS Nipuna as Commandant & simultaneously as Deputy Area Commander in Southern Naval Area.

Rear Admiral Jayantha De Silva is a recipient of Rana Sura Padakkama as reward for individual acts of distinguished conduct in the face of the enemy. He has received Uththama Seva Padakkama for his valuable & proud service in Sri Lanka Navy. He has also been commended 06 times for his outstanding performance of duty and exceptional contribution to the Naval Service. He also been awarded Surface Warfare badge and FAC squadron pin for his silent service out at sea. In recognition of his service during humanitarian war he has been awarded with North and East humanitarian medal & also North and East operational medal.
