PM Wickramasinghe


      Rear Admiral Priyanka Merril Wickramasinghe was born on 3rd March 1965 and was educated at the DS Senanayake College Colombo. He Joined Sri Lanka Navy as an Executive Branch Officer Cadet of the 13th Intake (Cadet Entry) on 7th January 1985. He underwent his basic training at the Naval and Maritime Academy, Trincomalee, and Sub Lieutenant Technical Course at INS Venduruthy, Kochi, India. He is a specialist in Anti Submarine Warfare.

His last Sea Command was SLNS Nandimithra (Fast Missile Vessel). The other key appointments he has held during his unblemished Naval career of 32 years are Instructor- Naval and Maritime Academy, Officer in Command Fast Attack Craft, Commanding Officer of the Sri Lanka Navy Elite 4th Fast Attack Craft Squadron, Commanding Officer Fast Gun Boats, Command Operations Officer (East), Deputy Director Naval Projects & Plans at NHQ, Deputy Area Commander North Western Naval Command and Director Naval Operations, Director Naval Foreign Co-operation, Director Maritime Special Forces and Director Maritime Surveillance at NHQ. Presently he is serving as the Area Commander of the North Central Naval Command.

Rear Admiral Wickramasinghe is a Senior Naval Officer decorated with the gallantry medals Rana Wickrama Padakkama and Rana Soora Padakkama for his acts of bravery and valour in the face of the enemy. He was also awarded with ‘Uththama Seva Padakkama’ for his unblemished and exemplary Naval Career

He earned his MSc in National Security and War Studies form the prestigious National Defence University, Pakistan and is an Associate Fellow of the Nautical Institute (United Kingdom). He completed his National Security and War Course in Pakistan in 2015/2016.  He held the posts of Chairman of Sri Lanka Navy Aquatics and Sri Lanka Navy Musketry.   

He is married to Mrs. Ramyani Wickramasinghe.
