Sri Lanka Navy’s elite Special Boat Squadron (SBS) and Rapid Action Boat Squadron (RABS) destroyed  four  (04) LTTE boats killing sixteen (16) including seven (07) LTTE suicide cadres in the Northern seas off Nagar Kovil on 01st November 2008 around 0530 hrs.

The elite SBS and RABS personnel intercepted a cluster of LTTE craft off Nagar Kovil in the early hours of Saturday and opened heavy fire immobilizing their fleeing attempt upon interception. Sixteen (16) LTTE sea tiger cadres were also reported to have been injured due to the fierce naval fire directed at the enemy.

Monitoring of the LTTE communication revealed their casualty figures.

Bodies of four (04) LTTE sea tiger cadres killed were recovered in a subsequent search operation conducted.
