SFG 87 Hand Grenade found at Warodiyanagar

Naval troops attached to Naval Detachment Ambuwelipuram on a foot patrol recovered an SFG 87 hand grenade in Warodiyanagar around 1300 hrs yesterday (11th of June 2009).

The grenade, without the palm lever, had been lying buried for some time in a scrub near the Warodiyanagar Bharathi Tamil School in the Warodiyanagar - Thorankadu road. It was later defused by the Naval Bomb Disposal Team.

Routine foot patrols are conducted by Naval troops to ensure the safety of civilians and to prevent any unsavory elements from causing disturbance to civil life.
