Rear Admiral D.B. Goonesekara, ndc, psc

Born in 1929 and commissioned as
a Sub Lieutenant in the Royal
Ceylon Navy on 23.07.1951 and promoted to Lieutenant in 1954 and proceeded to U.K. for TAS
course in 1960. After that he was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Commander
in 1962 and extra A.D.C. to Governor General in 1965.
Promoted to Commander in 1970, Captain in 1972 and Commodore in 1973 and Rear Admiral on
assumption of command. He retired in 31st May 1979.
