Bandara commensing his Guinness Run
Amidst the chanting of “Seth Pirith”, the blessings of his beloved parents and the cheering of his Naval comrades, Leading Seaman Bandara began his Guinness Run today (27 November 2009) at “Olympic House” in Independence Avenue,Colombo 07.

Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy Vice Admiral Thisara Samarasinghe along with Chief of Staff of the Navy Rear Admiral DWAS Dissanayake arrived at the venue and offered words of encouragement to Bandara for his courageous feat. This is Bandara’s second attempt at breaking the existing Guinness record of running 257.880 kilo meters continuously on a treadmill set by Suresh Joachim in the year 2004. With improved physical fitness and adequate training for the task, Bandara is determined to enter his name in the Guinness Records and to bring glory to the Navy and Sri Lanka.
