Commander of the Navy visits "HMAS Glenelg" at the Port of Colombo

Commander of the Navy Vice Admiral Thisara Samarasinghe visited "HMAS Glenelg" at the Port of Colombo on 29 January 2010. He was warmly received by Commanding Officer of "HMAS Glenelg" Lieutenant Commander ST Doolin, upon his arrival on board the ship. Australian High Commissioner to Sri Lanka Her Excellency Kathy Klugman was also present at the occasion. The Navy Commander presented a memento to the Commanding Officer as a gesture of goodwill.

"HMAS Glenelg", a patrol boat belonging to the Royal Australian Navy, arrived in Sri Lanka on the 28th January 2010 on a goodwill visit. It is 56.45m long and has a displacement of 270 tons. It carries a crew of 04 officers and 25 sailors.

The Australian Navy vessel’s visit is expected to strengthen the bilateral relations between the two countries. Sri Lanka Navy arranged a special programme for the crew to enhance their relations with SLN personnel during their stay in Sri Lanka. Commanding Officer of "HMAS Glenelg" also called on several senior officers of the Sri Lanka Navy as a part of the vessel’s tour itinerary.
