Commander of the Navy attends Atavishi Buddha Pooja Ceremony held at Tissa Viharaya in Trincomalee

Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy Vice Admiral Thisara Samarasinghe attended the “Atavishi Buddha Pooja” ceremony held at Tissa Viharaya in Trincomalee on 21st January 2010. A large number of Naval personnel from the Eastern Naval Command were also present at the religious function held to invoke blessings on the Naval personnel who were killed, wounded and missing in action whilst safeguarding the national integrity and sovereignty of the Motherland.

The twenty-eight Buddha statues were donated to the temple on 20th January at a ceremony held under the patronage of Commander Eastern Naval Area Rear Admiral SMB Weerasekara. The unveiling of the newly-built “Bodhiprakaraya” also took place simultaneously with a religious ceremony held at the temple. The meritorious acts were performed from the generous contributions received from the Naval personnel attached to the Eastern Naval Command.
