of the Navy
The Navy exhibition stall depicts the role and mission of the Sri Lanka Navy and its future plans promulgated in accordance with National policies. It is full of exhibits showing its capabilities and achievements. Naval personnel are on hand to provide the visitors with explanations, briefings and demonstration of the exhibits on display. Naval craft, navigational equipment and maritime weapon systems have attracted the attention of both the young and the old to the Navy’s stall.

The model ship, the replica of Navy’s Landing Ship Tank SLNS Shakthi which played a pivotal role in transporting troops, equipment and weaponry during the humanitarian operations, allows visitors to see the layout of a Naval ship. The simulated experience of the high speed manoeuvrability of an “Arrow Boat” which is used by Navy’s elite Special Boat Squadron (SBS) provides visitors with a rare opportunity of “real life high speed boat manoeuvring experience”. The ship handling simulator produced by R&D personnel of SLN in collaboration with Colombo University gives visitors a unique experience of virtual navigation of a ship. The Ops Room located at the exhibition site enables the visitors to experience real time SLN maritime surveillance operations conducted using sophisticated surveillance equipment and see ship movements around the country relayed from far away places like Point Pedro and Trincomalee. It also educates the visitors on the crucial role played by the Navy with its coastal patrolling and deep sea surveillance which are conducted for the protection of the Motherland.
