Navy clinches Top Places at Sri Lanka Top 20 Body Building Championship

With a dazzling display of muscle power and physical fitness which impressed the judges, Sri Lanka Navy won the first and second places at the Sri Lanka Top 20 Body Building Championship held at the Matara Uyanwatte Sports Grounds on 28th April 2012. The mega event, which had the keen participation of a large number of top level competitors representing the tri-forces and renowned sports clubs in the island, was conducted by the Sri Lanka Body Building and Fitness Federation in association with the Matara Millennium Sports Club.

Representing Sri Lanka Navy, 08 competitors took part and six of them were among the ones selected for the Top 20. Sanjeewa Kumara and Chanaka Peter of the Navy won the first and second places while AM Amila, winning the Mr. Matara title at a competition held on the sidelines of the main championship, augmented the Navy’s honours. Sanjeewa, who has a promising future with the potential to win international fame for the country, had also won the Mr. Sri Lanka 2011 title on his superb physical prowess nurtured over the years after joining the Navy. He is scheduled to take part in 2012 Asian Games in Uzbekistan.

Commodore HDRN Premasiri functions as the Senior Coordinator Navy Body Building while Lieutenant Commander MBPS Wisvajith acts as its Chairman.
