Sri Lanka Navy takes part in Third Anniversary National Victory Parade

The defenders of the ocean, Sri Lanka Navy took part in the Third Anniversary National Victory Parade held under the patronage of the President of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces His Excellency Mahinda Rajapaksa at the Galle Face Green in Colombo on 19th May 2012. Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy Vice Admiral Somathilake Dissanayake was also among the dignitaries who graced the historic occasion.

Representing the Sri Lanka Navy, Commodore NAN Sarathsena rode in the pilot vehicle at the parade. The Naval Contingent comprised of Naval Forces from the Headquarters Theater, the Eastern Theater commanded by Rear Admiral Jayanath Colombage, the Northern Theater Commanded by Rear Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne and the Vanni Theater commanded by Rear Admiral Rohan Amarasinghe. They comprised of various divisions of sailors including the 4th Fast Attack Craft Flotilla (FAF 4), Special Boat Squadron (SBS), Rapid Action Boat Squadron (RABS) and women sailors.

Sri Lanka Navy’s Offshore Patrol Vessels, Fast Gun Boats, Fast Passenger Vessel “Jetliner”, Fast Attack Craft, Inshore Patrol Craft and Arrow Boats sailed past in formation in the seas off the Galle Face Green paying their tribute as the naval contingent marched past the special dais where the President took the salute of the Armed Forces and the Police. The armoured vehicles, weapons and equipment unique to the Navy were also on display at the parade.
