2012 Sponsors for Navy Rugby Team announced

Prominent Rugby Giants in the island, Navy Sports Club will be sponsored by Frontier Automotive, Airtel and Kandy Selection for the Year 2012. This was announced at a press briefing held at “Vilthera” Recreational Hall at SLNS Gemunu in Welisara on 08th June 2012. The press briefing was presided over by Director Navy Sports Commodore Dushyantha Amranayake. Representing the sponsors Mr. Shehan Fernado, Director Frontier Automotive (pvt) Ltd., Mr. Suren Gunawardene, CEO Airtel (pvt) Ltd. and Mr. Ajith Rathnasekera, Managing Director Kandy Selection (pvt) Ltd. were also present on the occasion.

The Navy team is captained by Lieutenant Yoshitha Rajapaksha. They are trained under Mr. Ronny Ibrahim. Director General Operations Rear Admiral Jayantha Perera is the Senior Coordinator Navy Rugby and Commodore Dushyantha Amaranayake functions as the Chairman.

Navy, which have shown remarkable performances in all forms of rugby, comprise of players of immense potential. They are due to take part in the Dialog sponsored League Rugby Tournament which commences on 09th June. The fixtures of the first round of games are as follows:
