French Naval Ship makes inaugural visit to Port of Trincomalee

The French Naval Ship “Dupay De Lome” arrived at the Port of Trincomalee on 02nd July 2012 for a goodwill visit. On her arrival, she was ceremonially welcomed by the Sri Lanka Navy. The visit is the first of its kind by a French naval ship to the scenic Trincomalee Harbour. To mark the historic occasion, the Commanding Officer, Commander Gregolfe Germain, accompanied by French Ambassador to Sri Lanka Her Excellency Christine Robichon paid a courtesy call on the Commander Eastern Naval Area Rear Admiral Jayanath Colombage. They held cordial discussions and exchange mementos as a gesture of goodwill.

“Dupay De Lome” is an auxiliary ship belonging to the French Navy. It is 102 meters in length and has a displacement of 4500 tons. The ship carries a complement of 102 naval personnel including 11 officers and 91 Sailors. The visiting French ship will stay in Sri Lanka until 06th July.
