12 Naval Personnel receive Houses under  "Api Wenuwen Api" Housing Project

His Excellency the President Mahinda Rajapaksa ceremonially handed over the 60 houses constructed in the Gampaha district under the "Api Wenuwen Api" housing project on 15th September 2012. The official ceremony was held at the Hunumulla Madya Maha Vidyalaya Grounds. Marking the event, the President presented the keys of the house built at Delwagura, Meerigama for Petty Officer P.I.L. Perera of the Sri Lanka Navy.

"Api Wenuwen Api" housing project is a concept of His Excellency the President Mahinda Rajapaksa and implemented under the guidance of Secretary to the Ministry of Defence and Urban Development Mr. Gotabaya Rajapaksa. The Seva Vanitha Unit of the Ministry of Defence spearheaded by Mrs. Ayoma Rajapaksa supervises the implementation of the project in tribute to tri-forces personnel defending the Motherland.

Twelve (12) naval personnel received houses under the project. They were late Ordinary Seaman W.A.S. Karunathilake (Meerigama), Able Seaman S.S. Alwis (Divulapitiya), Fleet Chief Petty Officer M.A.N.P. Kumara (Minuwangoda), Petty Officer W.A.P. De Silva (Minuwangoda), Petty Officer P.I.L Perera (Delwagura), Petty Officer M.A.N. Dias (Ja-Ela), Chief Petty Officer H.N.T. Jayarathane (Meerigama), Petty Officer K.A.W. Rathnasiri (Ganemulla), Petty Officer V.R.M.P. Rathnayake (Walgammulla), Petty Officer M.A.R.K. Wedarathna (Baaduragoda), W.A.K. Pranandu (Ragama) and A.M.L.P. Kumara (Radawana). All the houses were constructed by the Sri Lanka Navy using their man-power and technology.

Ministers and Deputy Ministers, Secretary to the President, Secretary of Defence, Governor, Ministers and Deputy Ministers of the Western Provincial Council, three Service Commanders, IGP and a large number of VIPs were also present on the occasion.
