A haul of contraband well covered and hidden in a locality about 02 kilometres to the North from the City of Mannar in between Konthampiddy and Pallimunai was nabbed by a naval troop engaged on a routine patrol, around 0200 hrs yesterday, the 12th June 2008.
The contraband seized consisted of 01 can of petrol (65) litres), 03 cans of diesel (65 litres), 11 cans of Ds 40 (20 litres), 05 tyres (750X 16), 05 tubes (750X16) and 10 motor bicycle tubes that had been hidden and later to be transported to un-cleared areas in Vedithalthievu.
The terrorists seem to have faced a severe shortage of these types of goods due to onslaught of the security forces and repeated losses during recent past.
