never bothered to take a picture of mine as I was carrying all cooking utensils and
nothing nice to show off!
The trekking for Kirigalpotta was really fun but needed reasonable amount of
fitness as that 7km stretch was full of climbs, soggy terrain, plain woods and rocky
too. It took 3 and ½ hours to take that 7km stretch and once we reached right
on top it was a lovely scenery of Dayagama and the beauty of Hortain Plains was
clearly visible. Everybody had a break for more than one hour on top of the hill with
the most famous lunch Maggie noodles and started to come down around 1400 hrs
and reached the Hortain Plains office complex within 2hrs. All were exhausted and
shoes were dirty with mud and the trousers were soggy ,so I suggested the team
leader that we should remove these clothes as soon as possible, hence to have a dip
in the Ambewela Lake and if possible to have hot cup of tea or coffee and then to
start our journey to Colombo. On conditions, Chairman agreed to the proposal and
we said good bye to virgin nice plains of Horton around 1730hrs.
Alas! After minutes we stared our journey and the visibility was ‘zero’ due to heavy
mist and our LTA Ravindra had to switch on all the lights what he had in the bus and
I assumed it was more than a Air Craft! As suggested some had ‘Full body wash”
from the Ambewela Lake and some only ‘Body Wash’. Two were remains in the
same clothes what they wore for the Trekking and some members had to spray
whole of their body spray bottle just to beat that ‘aroma’ filled around the Bus!
The ‘balance’ what we had in our ‘Hip Flask’ help us to keep the body warmth after
dip in the Ambewela Lake. Lcdr ‘Para’ was so eager to have a beer but no support
obtained from the others for the proposal. We filled our ‘tummies’ with different
verity of fried rice from Nuwara Eliya, started coming down via Kandy leaving only
the foot prints in the places where we visited !
