SUCCESS BRINGS
THROUGH ATTITUDE

Introduction When someone says,
“I like the task I got”, “I am
very proud to be selected as a
member of the team” or “I am
very confident of completing
the assigned task” that
indicate the right attitude,
which is the positive attitude
that we all expect from
members of our organization.

An attitude is the readiness to respond, in
a certain way, to a person, object, idea or situation.
Attitude of a person may remain relatively stable
over the time but emotions may change with more
information and experience. Attitudes always
influence human behaviour. On the other hand,
behaviour can also influence the attitude. For
example, if someone behaves in a certain way to
please his superior, the response might be positive
and the person might find his attitudes being
changed for his own behaviour has contributed to
change the same.

Attitudesofthemembersinanorganization
towards the job and the organization itself are very
important for it could influence the productivity
and satisfaction. Job satisfaction is always there
when the members of the organization maintain
a right attitude towards his or her job. In this
end, many researches have shown a negative
relationship among job satisfaction, absenteeism
and productivity. A similar and even stronger
relationship could be found among absenteeism,
productivity and organization’s commitment.

As a result, many organizations do conduct
surveys on the attitudes of their members. In
such surveys, members are to rate their attitude
towards their assigned work, pay and benefits,
leaders, peers, opportunities to advancement
and many other important aspects in order to
understand the attitudes of their members and to
identify the problem areas.
