How to Create Positive Thinkers Today the most challenging task being faced by any leader is to develop positive
attitudes among people and events. If we feel that someone is negative, we may feel
bad and unfriendly towards him. It is natural that human beings behave in such a
manner as guided by the feelings. As the South African Civil Supporter, Mr. Steve Biko
once said “Change the way people think” and “Things will never be the same”. Most
leaders do believe and share Biko’s belief because there is a close connection between
thought and action, character and conduct, word and deed. Therefore, it is obvious
that our attitude will guide our action.
Honouring the individuals is another key concept. The principle of fair
treatment is one of the main concerns among the members in any organization.
Listening to the needs of others and respecting their ideas are main aspects to prove the
same principle. Therefore, treating each one individually is rather highly important.
Use of dehumanizing techniques can destroy positive attitudes, which have built with
more commitment spending months and years in the same organization.
It is obvious that “Positive attitudes are caught not taught”, because the
attitudes of your members reflect the attitude of you. Therefore, development of one’s
own positive attitude is the best method to develop others’ attitudes. A person may
show negative attitudes due to the fact that his team or entire system has confronted
with numerous problems as well as deficiencies in their organizations.
People with a positive mind have greater personal confidence. If someone
wants to be succeeded, he must develop positive attitudes. The foundation for
personal confidence is positive attitude. Therefore, you must re-programme your
mind with positive statements such as ‘I am excellent in all what I do’, ‘I am always
positive, constructive and dynamic’ and ‘I am a winner’.
Conclusion Positive thinking is a very common subject to talk in present day context in
every spear due to the complex nature of our organizations and competition among
them. Having stayed focusing on positive attitude is a blessing for the organization
and such people can inspire others to follow them as role models. When positive
attitude is present, you can develop mutually supportive relationship with your team.
However, if something happens to undermine or destroy your positive
attitude, you must immediately pay your attention very seriously towards renewal
of the attitude without waiting or ignoring. Because, such a person may drift along
to the negative side and may thus change his behaviour. Renewal process should be
commenced promptly extending the opportunity for him to recapture his positive
attitude.
A positive person makes the work more satisfying and enjoyable for everyone.
Every level in an organization depends upon the positive attitude of everyone in
the organization and they maintain team spirit to have efficiency, productivity and
quality. The value of positive attitude is always expected and it makes everyone’s job
easier. Remaining positive will help all of us to enhance individual career, create better
personal relationships, and reach the goals of our lives.
