70 Sayurusara 2020 JUNE
It’s been an extraordinary moment in the history for all Sri
Lankans from mid-March 2020, which affected the entire nation. The
Chinese originated virus pushed the whole world in to an alarming
status, specially kneeling down the giant nations and superpowers,
developed countries in Europe taking on to their knees. Being an
upcoming and developing nation Sri Lanka too has had no exemption
with the disastrous epidemic, which resulted, salient changes
experienced socially, economically and mentally. Beside this, entire
situation made a huge impact on the deteriorating environment and
personnel behaviour. The little things which I were able to grasp and
observe during this period is large! So let me pen my thoughts and
share with you.
In Welisara Naval Base from the 7th Floor Cabin 709 it is a
breath taking, magnificent panorama with so much of serenity.
As usual a large number of sailors were performing duties
outside the premises during this period, where they have been
exposed to people infected with COVID 19 epidemic.
One of the sailors who was attached to our Technical branch
has been exposed to this group of sailors since his duties were to
look into faults and repairs of telephones and connecting telephone
lines. So not by choice, but to fulfil duties he was compelled to attend
to these matters everywhere in the base.
